We are so glad you’re interested in a puppy from 3/W Farms! It truly means a lot to us that you have taken the time to research our program and are considering one of our puppies to become part of your family. This policy is being putting in place after years and years of visits, wasted time, and people that do not have the courtesy to follow through. 

We absolutely enjoy meeting our future puppy families and do allow visits by appointment. However, because we are a working horse farm with multiple litters of puppies, adult dogs, daily farm responsibilities, and children- we ask that everyone respect the following guidelines. These policies help us provide the best possible care for our animals while also giving every family a wonderful experience during their visit. 

 

1. Visits Are Limited to 45 Minutes

We are happy to schedule puppy visits, but each appointment is limited to 45 minutes.

As a large working farm our days revolve around caring for horses, puppies, adult dogs, and meeting the needs of our current puppy families. Every day is carefully scheduled to ensure all of our animals receive the attention and care they deserve.

Limiting visits allows us to:

• Keep feeding, cleaning, and exercise schedules on track.

• Give every visiting family dedicated one-on-one time.

• Ensure the health, cleanliness, and routine of our puppies are never compromised.

We appreciate your understanding that while we love visiting with families, our animals must always come first.

2. We Do Not Allow Visits With the Puppy Parents

Although we’d love for everyone to meet our adult dogs we do not allow visitors to interact with the parents of the litter. We are always happy to provide photos, videos, and answer any questions about their personalities and temperaments.

This policy exists for several important reasons:

• Mother dogs are naturally protective of their puppies and can become stressed when unfamiliar people approach or handle their babies.

• Visitors bring new scents and unfamiliar surroundings that can make nursing mothers uncomfortable.

• Hormonal changes after giving birth often make even the sweetest dogs much more protective.

• For insurance and liability purposes, we simply cannot allow interactions with our adult dogs.

• The commotion of bringing dogs back and forth to visit also disrupts our horse training program and makes our young horses very scared with all the  noises. This is to also protect our safety and the horses with riding or our other family members or part-time help is working with them.  

Our goal is to protect both our dogs and our visitors while keeping our mothers comfortable, relaxed, and focused on raising healthy puppies.

3. Please Discuss Everything With Your Family Before Visiting

Before scheduling a visit, we ask that everyone in your household has already discussed bringing home a puppy.

This includes:

• The purchase price.

• The ongoing financial responsibility of owning a dog.

• Daily exercise and training.

• Grooming and veterinary care.

• Who will be responsible for caring for the puppy.

• Making sure everyone is excited and committed to this long-term decision.

It is super unfair for us to spend dedicated time for a visit and after to say "I need to speak to my husband/wife." PLEASE have this ironed out and on the same page before coming!  A puppy is a lifelong commitment and we want every family member to be on the same page before emotions get involved during a visit.

4. Narrow Your Choices to 3–4 Puppies

To make your visit as productive as possible, we ask families to narrow their list down to 3–4 puppies before arriving.

Looking at an entire litter of 7–10 puppies can become overwhelming very quickly. Personalities begin to blend together and it becomes difficult to remember which puppy showed which traits.

By focusing on a smaller group, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Spend meaningful time with each puppy.

• Compare personalities more easily.

• Ask detailed questions about each puppy.

• Make a confident and informed decision.

We are always happy to help guide you toward puppies that best fit your family’s lifestyle, activity level, and goals.

5. Puppies Are Not Held Without a Deposit

Our puppies are often reserved very quickly.

Because of this, we do not hold any puppy without a deposit.

We completely understand that choosing a puppy is an important decision, but we also have other families who may already be prepared to move forward.

If you choose to leave without placing a deposit, please understand that the puppy will continue to be available to other approved families. We simply cannot promise availability while someone is deciding.

We encourage families to come prepared to make a decision if they find the puppy that feels like the perfect fit.
